DAUGHTERS OF THE KING

First Wednesday of each month at 5pm in the parlor of Bingham Hall.

DAUGHTERS OF THE KING

The Order of the Daughters of the King is organized as a religious order, although we do not live in an enclosed community. Each Daughter undertakes a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service. Our Rule of Life requires a spiritual discipline of daily prayer, service, and evangelism. Because of our vow, we refer to ourselves as an order, not an organization.

WHO WE ARE

The name of the St. Peter’s Chapter of the DOK is St. Anne. It was established on July 8, 2001.

Our monthly meeting is held on the first Wednesday of every month, and these meetings are very confidential. Every December our chapter does an outreach project. The last several years our members donated items for gift baskets to be given to Hospice patients. We also have contributed funds to missionaries in Africa, a student in seminary school, an individual going on the annual Honduras mission trip, and the “Back to School Supplies” project in the community. Although we are not allowed to raise money in the name of The Order, we do give individually to spread Christ’s Kingdom in many ways.

THE MOTTO OF THE ORDER

For His Sake...

I am but one, but I am one, I cannot do everything, but I can do something.

What I can do, I ought to do.

What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do.

Lord, what will you have me do?

THE COLORS OF THE ORDER

White and blue

White is for purity and the bright light of truth.

Blue is for the joyful days of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

THE CROSS OF THE ORDER

The senior cross of the order is a modified Greek Fleury Cross inscribed in Latin, “Magnanimiter Crucem Sustine,” the watchword of The Order, which means, “With heart, mind and spirit uphold and bear the cross.” At the base of the cross are the letters “FHS”, initials that stand for the Motto of The Order: “For His Sake.” Daughters take a vow to wear this daily.

THE HYMN OF THE ORDER
