The Episcopal Church Welcomes You!
St. Peter’s is one parish (church) among 87 parishes that make up the Episcopal Church in Alabama, and St. Peter’s is one of the oldest parishes in Alabama.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Glenda S. Curry is the Bishop in the Diocese of Alabama and the Rt. Rev. Brian N. Prior is our Assisting Bishop. As the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, we are all beloved children of God, redeemed and transformed by God’s grace through Jesus Christ. We are followers of Jesus in the Episcopal tradition. We are a diverse community of people unified and transformed by the love of God in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit to share that transformational love with the world.
The Episcopal Church in Alabama is one diocese among many dioceses that make up the national Episcopal Church, and even more that make up the worldwide fellowship of the Anglican Communion. The Most Rev. Michael B. Curry was elected as the Presiding Bishop of the national Episcopal Church in June, 2015 at the 78th General Convention. The Episcopal Church as a whole is a liturgical church that follows the Book of Common Prayer, as well as its doctrines, traditions, and teachings from holy scriptures, and is governed by the General Convention.
